About Rachael
I am the founder of Rooted Soul Yoga and the creator of its Intuitive Holistic Healing practice. At the heart of my work is the belief that the physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual bodies are deeply connected—and that healing becomes more meaningful when we make space for all of them.
My background is in athletic training and exercise science, and as a former collegiate softball player, I first came to understand the body through movement, performance, anatomy, and rehabilitation. For a long time, I related to my body through what it could do and how far I could push it. Living with chronic illness asked me to find a completely different way of being in relationship with myself—one built less on striving and more on listening.
That shift changed everything.
As I began finding more freedom in my physical body, emotional and spiritual healing followed in waves I could never have anticipated. My own healing journey opened me to my intuitive gifts and helped me understand, in a very lived way, that the body never lies and the body always remembers. Our emotions, histories, instincts, and inner knowing often speak through sensation long before we have words for them.
I now specialize in subtle somatics, an integrative approach that explores the relationship between the physical body, emotional experience, energetic awareness, and spiritual connection. In my Intuitive Holistic Healing sessions, I may weave together somatic inquiry, adaptive movement, yoga, Reiki, breathwork, meditation, and intuitive reflection. Each session is shaped around the person in front of me and what feels most present for them in that moment.
I am not interested in forcing healing into a formula. I believe the body has its own wisdom, and my role is to help create the kind of space where that wisdom can be heard more clearly.
I am a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and am currently completing my prenatal yoga certification. My teaching is deeply informed by my lived experience of chronic illness, pain, fatigue, hypermobility, and the ongoing practice of meeting the body with compassion rather than judgment. I believe meaningful practice begins when we stop asking the body to perform wellness and begin building an honest relationship with where we actually are.
Community is also central to my work. I believe being witnessed by others who value authenticity, intuition, and the truth of the soul can be its own kind of medicine. Rooted Soul Yoga grew from my desire to create the kind of belonging I had been searching for—a space where people can gather without abandoning themselves, where difference is welcomed, and where connection is rooted in honesty.
Alongside this work, I am also an art historian and doctoral researcher. My scholarship focuses on the visual and material ways women have found strength through the divine feminine. While these parts of my life may seem different on the surface, they are connected by the same questions: How do we return to ourselves? How do we reclaim ways of knowing that have been overlooked or dismissed? And what becomes possible when we honor the body, intuition, ritual, and creativity as sources of wisdom?
Through Rooted Soul Yoga, I bring together what I have studied, practiced, lived through, and come to trust. My work is an invitation to return to your body, listen beneath the noise, and reconnect with the part of yourself that already knows.
